Opening Soon

Hi all, It's with both a heavy and a full heart that I'm letting you know that Matchpoint will be closing up shop come January 31st. Heavy, because it's an ending, and endings suck. And this little business I built has not only brought hundreds and hundreds of yards through the door of my one-bedroom-apartment-slash-fabric-warehouse (to the endless confusion of our neighbours), but has also brought me immense, immeasurable joy. Joy in seeing your stunning makes pop up on the feed, made from fabric that would have often been destined to a sad, dusty life in the corner of a warehouse. Joy in your messages, and comments, and conversation. Joy in wrapping up each package, wondering what illustrious second life it would lead. But after nearly three years of wearing all the hats (from accountant to customer service rep to graphic designer to photographer), it's time to pack it up and carve out some space for some personal projects. In the wise words of Semisonic, every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end (even if I'm not quite sure what that is yet!). And in turn, I hope that the space left by our departure is filled by a whipsmart entrepreneur who will revolutionize the sustainable fabric space in ways I haven't even dreamed of. I'll still be researching and writing about sustainable, ethical & deadstock textiles/fashion in my spare time. If this is of any interest to you, I'd love for you to join me over at @michelleofatime (it's my personal account, so expect some spaghetti pics too 🍝) or sign up for my new newsletter Matchpoint Monthly, a (monthly - you guessed it!) round-up of research, personal writing, links, articles & ephemera in the sustainable fashion & sewing space. Of course, there wouldn't be a Matchpoint without you. And that's where the "full heart" bit comes in. Right from the start, your trust, enthusiasm and endless support has made me the luckiest business owner on the planet. And through this lump in my throat, I've just got to say it again: thank you, thank you, thank you. I hope we'll stay in touch. With admiration, love and gratitude, Michelle
